A really good year.

Jack's ringing in the new year...

and this kid is a party just waiting to happen.

ski trip, round two

The first day was fun, the second day was just awesome.
We let these two loose and pretty soon they were just taking off together.

That's Jemma Jane on the big lift.
She was really worried about the ride up and I could see some big tears welling up but I made her do it anyway and I watched as she came down the end of hill...and got right back in line like it was no big deal.
And I almost cried.
The girl is strong and confident and so darn old.

Barely out of the parking lot and these two were out cold.

This trip was just the best.
I kept thinking our kids are the perfect age for this and then I remembered that they are 4 different ages, so apparently any age is perfect.  Ed kept taking off to do a black diamond and then he'd come right back to ride up the platterpull and race down with one and then take another on a green run.  Who knew the key to loving the bunny hill is having a kid on it?

Ski Trip!!

We have been wanting to take the kids skiing for years but we just haven't made the time.  This year Santa did it for us and everyone was pumped.
Started a bit bumpy when we showed up to the lesson with 40 other kids--biggest group of newbies they'd ever seen.  After a couple hours of sliding around on our own, we took a break for lunch and Ed hit the big people slopes:

ready to try again!

(waiting for her teacher)
I sneaked the littles into the afternoon lesson and it was SO much better.

and Ed took the bigs on a real run

getting the hang of it!

the thing about skiing is that sometimes you're awesome:
and sometimes you're not:

but hot chocolate always makes it better.

Ava and Henry were practically the last ones in.

Found a great dinner spot and then hit the pool

so much energy left.  How and why?

finally crashed.
And ready to try again tomorrow!

blog buddy

took me two hours to play blog catch up and this guy wanted to watch the whole time.

l.o.v.e

Christmas break means

some of Ava's biscuits and gravy,

a family workout,

and hours and hours of legos.

Winter wonderland

We were well into lazying away the day after Christmas until grandma and grandpa talked us into heading to Kamiak.

The Driskill version of Christmas cookies:

why mess around when what you really want is chocolate chip?

The day after...

Cougs are in a bowl game!
Ed celebrates with Christmas whiskey and Henry passes out with new toys as close as possible:

We fill up on presents and yummy food and get home in time for a walk in the snow and a round of Henry's new "bing bong":
