Backing up a bit...

One of my favorite parts of the building process...
(do you love my little Henry's hand around his sister?)

my baby's not a baby anymore.

Earlier today, as I was dropping a 2 candle for Henry's birthday cake into my shopping cart, my eyes started burning and I thought to myself that all the smoke in the air must be getting to me and then I realized, no, my baby's turning two and I'm standing in Walmart trying not to cry about it.

and now it's happening again.

Now that I think about it, the rest of them are getting bigger too:

We've moved!

Again.  But this time into our real house.
And this is how we feel about it:

We have packed an insane amount of fun into the last 10 days, including the kids' first backpacking trip, Jack's first triathlon, first Coug football game of the season, and all the things that happened to finish the house, and I'll get to those soon but for now here's a little of what we've done in the last five days since moving in:

Discovered our super awesome toys that have been packed since Christmas!
And Ed left town right after we moved in so the kids did a whole lotta this while I unpacked:

Even Good Housekeeping is excited for us:

I'm working tomorrow so we've got food and flowers filling the place up:

And then on Sunday, this buster turns two:
What?!
And then we can settle down and enjoy this place and the super amazing fall weather we're having.

"we should have ice cream at least once a month...or maybe like twice a day?"

Ava

Ava and I took ourselves out to dinner last night.  It was a perfect night...last of the summer weather, good food, and the best company:

Ava took this shot on the way home and said you better post this on the blog!

House.

Wonder what the kids do all the hours I spend at the house?
You're looking at it:

the perks

So we've been camping out at my parents' for 10 days now and if you're under the age of 10, the living is pretty darn good.

 tubin' in the sink

Even the chores are better since I never let her iron:

includes after school snacks in the camper:
Ava said, "there is nothing better than coming home from school, putting on your comfy clothes, eating chips and watching the Waltons in the camper!"  so easy to please.

classy.

Jem, Henry, and I took advantage of a school day to go to Lewiston and hit Home Depot and then, of course, to Costco for some pizza.  Where else can you take off your t-shirt while eating and still fit in?

1st Day of School!

Oh, I love them.

4th grade!

1st grade!

After school we headed for treats so they could tell me all about their day:
They are delight-full.
I miss them.

The night before school...

ha, I almost typed the night before Christmas...sometimes it feels a bit like it!

 Pizza Hut and Jamms

ready!

my handsome first grader

the first graders are invited to school a couple days early to get their business sorted...the highlight?  Finding his locker.

Driskill kids and pizza

two of my favorite things.
We hit our last outdoor concert of the season a couple weeks:

And the kids were super pleased to find the Casebolts there:

and grandma and grandpa, who is always happy to dance a few:

Harvest!

Took about two minutes before Jack flagged him down for a ride:
