Spring Break!

We set out for Port Angeles--two aunts, two sisters, and eight crazy kids:
who wouldn't want to travel eight hours with this goober?

the ferry.
a little rain doesn't scare us.

saying hello to the beach

this is how Ava feels about the ride over.

our cozy house

Jack's favorite job is keeping the fire going.
Henry's is eating.

We woke up to sun!
Day after day!

I sat here for most of the week.

We're not too cool to wear Christmas pjs all day

and we can't always be bothered to go in for the bathroom.

The girls threw a shower for their babies.
The worked on it all week and it was really lovely.

the food

and the gifts.

the boys were sequestered here.

The weather was amazing but the water was still COLD!

Henry slept with me most nights and I woke up every (early) morning to this face:

I think I like him better here:

Jack and I took a walk every day to explore and talk.

Aunt Nette telling Jack something important.

these girls live to hand wash dishes.

Now that's the way to eat hot dogs!

Ice cream on the road home.

This week is just.so.fun.
My mom and my aunt pack bags full of crafts, and art supplies, and books.  And then they spend hours and hours with the kids.  On the beach, on the road, and snuggled in bed.
Paula and I read.  And eat and drink.

Sleeping Beauty!

Ava was in her first ever drama production!
This was a big time commitment and right in the middle of basketball season, and it was a huge leap outside her comfort zone.
She loved it.

The fairies in Sleeping Beauty.

Jack finished a (very) long season of basketball....

Will came to the last tournament.
Which was just about the best.thing.ever.

They had a post-season party and the coach named Jack "Most Coachable", he said this kid does exactly what you say, when you say it, and with a big smile on his face.
Yup.

let's go all the way back to March for just a bit....

Apparently it was a nice spring!
Caught this lovely lady wearing shorts before spring break.

he makes my heart happy...

Just left football practice, headed to basketball practice, reading a book.
And those knobby, dirty knees.
Perfection.

I like these two.

A lot.

Bloomsday!

This was Ava's first Bloomsday and it was SO awesome to run it with her!
It's a 7.46 mile hilly course and she just killed it.

Ava and Kayte weaving through the crowds.

Post race lunch at Red Robin!

date with Jack

Jack's choice for a night out?
The district track meet so he can watch his PE teachers/high school buddies compete in their senior track season.  The best part?  Both boys, who are headed to college on track scholarships, took the time to hang out with him.  Yet another reason why we love the kids' school so much!

Happy Mother's Day to Me!!

We spent the day at the lake.

Waiting for a table at my favorite restaurant.

Worth the wait!

buddies

last day of school...

didn't even make it home before he conked out.

darn right.

tea with Jack

Jack come home from school and requested a cup of tea.
He had a sip and said he preferred his white and suggested I add more cream.
And then some more sugar.
And maybe a bit more cream.

Kindergarten graduation!

listening patiently,

clapping for friends,

and receiving her diploma!

Made it to first grade!  The joy!

And, of course, with her favorite teacher.

This girl.
She is so smart and funny.  But most of all she is a good sister.  She watches out for all of them, she asks the most insightful questions, and she constantly puts others first.
She is a JOY to be around.
