Honestly,

this kid is the highlight of my life.

Hoopfest 2015.

It was HOT.  I mean 105 degrees HOT.
But these kids were such good sports.
Ava's team.

This girl was awesome.  She adjusted quickly to street ball and was stealing and scoring.  So fun to watch!

Jack doing his thing.

Did I mention it was HOT?
Jack and I hid out in the mall for a bit and sucked up some a/c.

We finally checked into our room and found out they'd upgraded us to the presidential suite.  So awesome.

We got all cooled and showered and headed out for dinner.
It was still 102.

Jack's team squeezed into some shade before his last game.

He played with his football/basketball buddies.  I love watching these kids play, they are tough.

The morning view from our room.

Ava's bracket included a team of friends--that was fun!

Survived.

Barely.

the big and the bitty

I love them.

summertime is hard work.

get use to that blue mustache on the boy there, I think it's a permanent part of his summer outfit.

darn dog.

Farmer's Market

we look forward to it all week!

Happy Father's Day!

Ed with his people.
Honestly, we're both surprised on a regular basis by the awesomeness of these kids.
We don't deserve them but we love them.so.much.

Jack can drive the boat pretty well now so the two us can sit up front and lounge.

We ended the day with a little Mexican, margaritas, and pitching practice.

welcome home

Ava got home from camp and Jemma was in the car hugging her before she could even get out.

This is happening...

but not without his biggest fan:

football camp.

Getting signed by the UI players.
I realize I have mentioned this but I just like to watch this kid play.  Pretty much anything.

Summer Camp!

Ava tried a new summer camp this year and just loved it!
And I was reminded once again how much I hate having her gone for a week.
I was so lonely without her!
A car full of happy girls.
The joker on the left was just along for the ride.
And the lunch:

baseball!

Because of Jack's broken leg two years ago and follow up surgery last year, baseball is the one sport he had yet to dive into.  I was hoping we'd make it another year as we had just finished four months of basketball.  And I made it past the deadline without Jack catching wind of the upcoming season!  But word travels fast on the streets and he started his campaign to get out there on the field.  He finally roped his dad into his efforts and I caved and we got on a team the day before the first game of the season.
And I liked it.  A lot.
Apparently it doesn't matter how much you hate a sport, when your kid is as cute as Jack, you'll be happy watching him play anything.
The kid has an awesome swing.
He says there's nothing better than the feel of the bat hitting the ball.

Seriously the cutest third baseman in the sport.
You'll note he's got his socks showing.  We like it old school here, we're of the opinion that baggy baseball pants are an offense to the sport.  Jack quickly got his team on board.

This one?
He came to every game in his blue hat and cleats, just in case they needed him on the field.
He also ate his weight in sugar by the end of the season.

The end of season tournament saw Jack's team playing a team they'd crushed twice but they just couldn't get it going till the end.  Jack's got his rally cap on here and he was just dying for one more inning but they ran out of time and ended with a loss.
He was bummed.  He asked if I would sit on the deck and snuggle him.
I obliged and after talking about the whole season and hashing it all out, he ended up giggling with me.
No better way to end a day than with a Jack smile:

this kid. (haha this one was in my draft folder so I'll start here!)

I just love him.
He got up this morning and mowed the lawn for hours and hours, handed out flyers for his new lawn mowing venture, then we ran to Pullman so he could pick out a special gift for his PE teacher, then I dropped him at basketball practice, picked him up in time to eat a sandwich and then he biked to baseball practice, biked home from there in time to squeeze in an hour of running the neighborhood before dark.

watch out..blog posts coming by the hundreds...

I'm gonna start this week and work my way back.  Or not.  Actually, I'm three months behind and have no idea what to do.  But you know it's bad when your kids wonder why you don't love them enough to post their pictures.  Kidding.  Sort of.

April 7, 2015

It's 50 degrees and snowed just yesterday.
I hear little feet patter to the door and head out.  I holler, "Jemma, what are you wearing??"
"My swimsuit, mom.  Don't worry!  It's just a water fight!  We're not going swimming!"
